             SHOW COMMITTEE REPORT

Our first show is less than 90 days away, so I hope you  have started getting your ponies legged up.  My horse is fat and furry, but I intend to cowgirl up and start riding him today -- as soon as I finish this Show Committee Report.

As you already know, the first two shows will be a 3 day show format with Paid Warm-ups from 7-9 on Friday and Saturday mornings.  The official classlists will be available by March 1st. All three shows will offer AQHA approved Reining and Ranch Riding classes.  We will also be offering club Ranch Riding classes that are open to all breeds. Watch the website and Facebook for updates. 

The theme of the May show is I Love This Club and we will kick off the season with our Awards Banquet on Thursday night.  Thanks to the generous support of Sun Dun Ranch, Jimmy Brown and Joan Howard, there will be custom belt buckles awarded to the winners of the NRHA Green Reiner Level 1, NRHA Rookie Level 1, Lil Boots Reiner and RHANW Non Pro Ranch Riding at this show. Please contact Lynn Johnson if you are interested in helping with the May show.

The theme of the June show is Let Freedom Rein. This will be a tribute to our veterans. There will be a silent auction with all proceeds going to benefit veterans programs.  Please contact Lola Sample if you are interested in helping with the June show.

We are getting lots of positive feedback about the decision to have the Reining in the Park at the Washington State Horse Park. This show will have paid warm ups on Wednesday afternoon, the show will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday and we will have a Ranch Riding Clinic presented by the judge Debra Cooper on Sunday. Debra is an excellent clinician and is also an AQHA World Champion in Ranch Riding. We will be finalizing the details of the Ranch Riding Clinic at our next meeting on Feb 24th.  If you would like to be added to the list of potential riders, send me an email by clicking this link joannepettit@gmail.com.  I will contact you once we have finalized the details.  

The Reining in the Park will feature the RHANW Stallion Stakes Futurity, NRHA Futurity and an NRHA Derby.  The amount of added money in the NRHA Futurity and Derby will depend on support from Sponsors.  If you or anyone you know are interested in becoming a primary sponsory of this show, please contact  Alison Savage, Katrena Hauger or me.

If you are planning to attend the August show and need a hotel room, I suggest your book your rooms now!  Hotels room are in short supply in the Cle Elum area.  Timberlodge Inn is the host hotel. Mention that you are with the Reining Horse Association of the Northwest to get a 10% discount. However, I have heard that they are close to being booked full already, so call now.  Thank you to Nancy Harcus for donating the room for our judge at this show! 

It takes a village to put on a fun, successful show, so if you are interested in helping make 2018 our best year ever, join us for the next meeting in Ritzville on Feb 24th or give us a shout.
